Beyoncé has delayed plans to deliver a significant announcement on 14 January as a result of the California wildfires.

An ongoing series of 23 blazes have affected Los Angeles and surrounding regions the past week, with thousands of buildings destroyed, 25 people dead, and 180,000 residents forced to evacuate.

While Beyoncé had teased plans to share big news with her fans following her National Football League (NFL) halftime show performance on Christmas Day, she issued a statement on Tuesday in which she confirmed the announcement would be postponed.

"The January 14th announcement will be postponed to a later date due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires around areas of Los Angeles," she wrote. "I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for the families suffering from trauma and loss. We are so blessed to have brave first responders who continue to work tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles community."

Beyoncé also urged her 313 million followers to support the efforts of her BeyGOOD Foundation in assisting those affected by the wildfires.

Officials at the organisation have already donated $2.5 million (£2 million), with the funds primarily going towards those who have lost their homes in the Altadena and Pasadena neighbourhoods of Los Angeles.

"The BeyGOOD LA Fire Relief Fund has donated $2.5 million to directly support families who lost their homes and community organizations at the forefront of relief. Please join us in supporting with whatever you can," the 43-year-old added in the caption.

Beyoncé didn't indicate when she now plans to make the announcement.
