After a 30-day pause granted by U.S. President Donald Trump in the trade war with Canada, the SAQ will restock American products that were recently removed from shelves.
Initially, the SAQ had been instructed to remove all American products by Tuesday, in anticipation of the 25% tariffs on Canadian goods. They were also asked to stop supplying American alcoholic beverages to grocery stores, bars, and restaurants across Quebec.
While this move is temporarily on hold, Quebec Premier François Legault has said that he still aims to reduce the province’s dependence on the American market—though he admits it won’t be an easy task.
