Doechii has defended her request to be shielded with "more umbrellas" by her assistants on the way to the 2025 Met Gala.

As the rapper - real name Jaylah Hickmon - was leaving The Mark Hotel in New York City on Monday night, she was filmed attempting to conceal her Louis Vuitton outfit by walking through the lobby with a sheet and several umbrellas held around her.

In footage circulating on social media, Doechii could be heard demanding her team members get even more umbrellas.

"I'm ready. No, stop. Give me another umbrella now - and another. I need more f**king umbrellas," she urged.

While some online critics accused Doechii of being rude to her assistants amid the outburst, taking to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, the Anxiety star shrugged off the controversy.

In a video backed by The Commodores' classic track Easy, Doechii is seen holding up her hands.

"God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas," she captioned the humorous clip.

And in another post, the 26-year-old described attending the annual fashion bash at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a dream come true.

"All jokes aside I'm so so so proud of my glam team and the LV team for an incredible night!" she added. "We've been dreaming about this Met for a long time and the theme this year is in such alignment with who I am what I stand for. It's nothing but God that this year was our debut. Everyone killed it. We nailed the theme. And a time was had (sic)."
