For the second time in less than six months, Canada Post has received a strike notice from the union representing over 55,000 postal workers.
The Crown corporation confirmed it received the notice on Monday, with employees planning to hit the picket lines starting at midnight on Friday.
The work stoppage is expected to impact around a million residents and businesses across the country. No new items will be accepted for delivery until the strike ends.
In November and December 2024, Canada Post workers staged a 32-day strike that disrupted the delivery of millions of letters and parcels during the busy holiday season.
According to the union, the upcoming strike is partly in response to the employer’s recent indication that it may unilaterally change working conditions and suspend employee benefits.
