The Hudson’s Bay Has Officially Closed
Adobe / Adobe

It’s the end of an era, Montreal. As of Sunday, June 1, 2025, the iconic Hudson’s Bay downtown, among others in the country, has officially closed its doors—for good.

This closure is part of a major shutdown that was announced back in March when the company filed for bankruptcy and creditor protection. In total, 80 stores across Canada are closing.

That also means around 8,300 employees are being laid off, with 900 more expected to lose their jobs when the company’s distribution centre shuts down on June 15.
