Beyoncé will face some familiar competition for an Emmy this year, from her husband Jay-Z.

As the 2025 Emmy nominations were announced on Tuesday, both Queen Bey and Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) were listed as nominees in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category.

Beyoncé earned a nod for her Beyoncé Bowl halftime show at the NFL's Christmas Day game on Netflix, while Jay-Z got his as one of the executive producers on Kendrick Lamar's Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.

Jay-Z previously took home the award in the category in 2022 for his work on the Apple Music Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show starring Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, Eminem, Lamar and 50 Cent.

The musical power couple are no stranger to sharing historic moments during awards season.

In November last year, the 16 Carriages singer tied the 99 Problems rapper as the most nominated artist at the Grammys when she received nine nominations for Cowboy Carter, bringing her total to 88.

Beyonce and Jay-Z met in their early 20s and began dating around 2001, marrying in a secret ceremony in 2008.

They have three children: Blue Ivy, born in 2012; and twins Rumi and Sir, born in 2017.
