Starting August 1, Quebecers will be required to pay at least 5% of their monthly credit card balance.

This is a 0.5% increase from the current minimum of 4.5%. The change applies to credit cards with contracts signed before August 2019.

Introduced in 2019 to help reduce debt, the measure has gradually increased the minimum payment by 0.5% each year, reaching the final target of 5% in 2025.
