Liam Payne's family have revealed how they celebrated his 32nd birthday.

Nearly a year after his death, the family of the One Direction star honoured what would have been his 32nd birthday with a touching tribute.

On Sunday, Liam's sister Nicola shared a glimpse into the private celebration on her Instagram Stories, posting photos from a bowling alley where the family had seemingly gathered to remember him.

In a series of snaps, Nicola shared images of relatives including their parents, Karen and Geoff, while a scoreboard also included the name of his other sister, Ruth.

"A year later, same bowling alley, different lanes ... one huge part of our family missing," Nicola, 37, wrote over the image, indicating that Liam and his family had celebrated his 31st birthday at a bowling alley.

This post came just days after Nicola shared another moving tribute on Instagram on 29 August, which would have been her younger brother's birthday.

"A year ago today, we were so full of hope and excitement for what the years ahead would bring you," she began. "That night, celebrating your birthday with bowling and McDonald's, we celebrated you, your show, your dreams, and spoke of all the plans you had for the future."

Nicola continued, "We ended the evening with a hug, telling you how proud we were and how much we loved you."

The singer's sister then went on to suggest that this was the last time she saw Liam.

"If I had known that would be the last time I'd see you, I would have said so much more," she wrote. "I wish I could step into a time machine and relive that night and hug you tighter, capture your smile and voice, ask more questions, and write it all down so I'd never forget."

Liam died after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 16 October. He was 31.
