Miley Cyrus is engaged to her musician boyfriend of four years, Maxx Morando.
Shortly after news broke that the pair are planning to wed, the Flowers singer spoke to People magazine.
"The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I've been astounded that I've actually been able to have and being able to kind of have more choice," she shared.
"I think it's also being older, being more protective of what I'm open to sharing."
Cyrus and Morando, who plays drums for the band Liily, broke the engagement news after the couple stepped out at the Los Angeles premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash on Monday night. Cyrus's song Dream As One is featured in the movie.
As they posed for photos on the red carpet, Cyrus was wearing a glittery ring on her wedding finger.
Jewellery designer Jacquie Aiche was later confirmed by her rep to have custom-made the ring.
Just a few hours after the couple walked the red carpet together, Morando's father, Dan Morando, shared a congratulatory post on his social media.
Posting photos from a private celebration at a sushi restaurant, he gave fans a close-up look at Cyrus's ring and shared photos of the couple hugging and smiling. He captioned the post with a series of emojis: a red heart, an engagement ring, a Champagne bottle and a party cracker.
The Hannah Montana alum was first spotted wearing the ring around mid-November, according to Deux Moi. It also made an appearance in photos Cyrus shared on Instagram from her 33rd birthday dinner with friends on 23 November.
Cyrus revealed in a July 2023 cover story for British Vogue that she and Morando met on a blind date.
"Well, it was blind for me and not really for him," she clarified to the outlet. "I thought, 'The worst that can happen is I leave.' "
