It looks like Montreal transit users might finally be able to use a digital version of their OPUS card in 2026!

The Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain is currently testing the feature with about 1,000 Android users and plans to expand the pilot to 4,000 participants soon.

The virtual OPUS card would be available through the Chrono mobile app, allowing riders to validate their fares by simply tapping their phones on buses, metro turnstiles, and REM gates.

This new feature would also let users add multiple OPUS cards to their device, reducing the need for physical cards and lowering the risk of losing them.

Hopefully we’ll hear more soon about this exciting update!
