If you’re craving a hit of early-2010s nostalgia, you’re in luck: a new film is officially romanticizing Montreal’s "hipster" golden age.

Mile End Kicks follows a 24-year-old music critic (played by Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira) who finds herself romantically involved with two members of the same indie band she’s assigned to cover. Set in Montreal’s 2011 indie music scene, the film also stars Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) and local legend Jay Baruchel.

The trailer feels like a love letter to the city, featuring some nods to the iconic St-Viateur Bagel, the classic Megabus, and the Olympic Stadium. Directed by Chandler Levack, the story is semi-autobiographical, drawing from her own experiences as a young music critic and filmmaker in the city.

After premiering at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, the movie is finally headed to the big screen. You can catch Mile End Kicks in theaters starting April 17, 2026.
