Chappell Roan has shared "my half of the story" following an accusation that one of her security guards intimidated a young fan at a São Paulo hotel.
On Saturday, Brazilian footballer Jorginho shared on social media that Roan had sent a security guard to chastise his wife and daughter, after the girl approached her briefly during breakfast in their shared hotel.
On Sunday, Roan clarified that the security guard, who wasn't a member of her personal team, was acting independently.
"I'm just gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security," Roan emphasised.
"I didn't even see a woman and a child, like no one came up to me, no one bothered me. I did not ask this security guard to go up to talk to this mother and child."
Roan continued, "I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children. I am sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something, and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that."
Earlier Jorginho had posted that his wife and daughter were in São Paulo for the annual three-day music festival Lollapalooza Brazil, and staying at the same hotel as Roan, who was performing.
"My daughter recognised her, got excited, and wanted to make sure it was really her. She simply walked past the singer's table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum," he wrote.
Following that brief encounter, Jorginho continued that "a large security guard" came over to their table and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to his wife and daughter, saying that she shouldn't allow my daughter to 'disrespect' or 'harass' other people.
On Saturday night, Roan thanked her security team during her Lollapalooza Brazil set, "I'm so grateful, so thank you, and thank you to my crew and my security and my band, and everyone behind the scenes."
