Great news for Canadians looking to renew their passport online: the government has removed the daily cap on online applications!
To qualify, applicants must:
- Have a Canadian mailing address.
- Have been 16 or older when their previous passport was issued.
- Have received their previous passport within the last 15 years.
You will still need to have a digital photo taken by a commercial photographer to upload with your application.
While online renewals have been available for a few years, applications were previously capped at 2,000 per day. With the cap removed, applicants who apply online can expect to receive their new passport within 20 business days.
