The excise tax cut on gasoline and diesel has officially been extended until January 31, 2027.
This break saves about 10 cents per litre on regular gasoline and four cents on a litre of diesel. Originally, it was set to end after Labour Day, but the government has announced that it will be extended until next year.
Gas prices have been rising due to conflict between the U.S. and Iran. Just this week, Montreal saw some of its gas stations go up to 200 cents per litre.
