A major fire erupted at Place Montreal Trust today. Montreal's 12th tallest building caught fire on the rooftop at around 4:39 p.m., La Presse reports.
Six workers were on the roof at the time. Two were taken to the hospital to treat injuries, and four were treated on site. There's no word yet on what caused the blaze.
An impressive plume of thick black smoke could be seen from many blocks away.
Montreal's firefighters said the blaze is now under control, but the entire building, including the adjoined shopping mall, had to be evacuated due to smoke entering the ventilation system.
