The independent research organization, the Fraser Institute, released its yearly report ranking 473 Quebec high schools, both private and public.

The ranking consists of public, independent, French and English schools and is based on student averages in five subjects (language, mathematics, science, technology and history), overall test results, and attendance.

This year, 44 schools across the province showed significant improvement, while the performance of 45 schools declined drastically.

Collège Charlemagne, a private school in Pierrefonds, and Collège Saint-Louis in Lachine were among six high schools tied for first place with perfect scores of 10. The other four include Saint-Joseph de Hul (Gatineau), Saint-Nom-de-Marie (Montréal), École d'éducation internationale (McMasterville) and École internationale de Montréal.

The most improved marks went to College Citoyen and Ecole Saint-Marie in Princeville.
