How much sex is too much?

One woman found herself asking that exact question when she opened up about her steamy bedroom sessions.

She took to the popular online column, Relationship Rehab, and revealed her secret, saying:

"My intimate partner and I have been having sex extremely frequently when together, about five times a day. Is there such a thing as too much sex or are we both just extremely horny?"

According to columnist Isiah McKimmie, having sex as often as five times a day isn’t unusual. At the beginning of a relationship, people are likely to have sex much more often, she writes, and “sometimes high levels of sex can be used as a coping strategy for difficult emotions”.

Of course, you don’t have to be a famous columnist to know everyone is built differently, and that not all couples will have the same amount of sex— but regardless of what some might think, health experts say there isn’t anything necessarily wrong with having a lot of sex. 

Research suggests that, for people in relationships, having sex is linked to greater well-being and happiness. But more doesn’t equate with better. People having sex twice a week aren’t any happier.
