Contrary to popular belief, most moms don’t want roses or chocolate for Mother’s Day. A new poll reveals the number one thing moms want this year is actually some time alone. In fact, a third of the 500 moms surveyed said they're secretly relieved that they have to stay at home with their immediate families this year, thus skipping big extended family celebrations with grandmothers or mothers-in-law. And according to the same survey, 13% of moms say they expect this Mother's Day to be better than usual.
Even more surprising is a third of moms say they'd give up their smartphone for an entire month if it guaranteed more time for themselves on a regular basis.
These results weren’t surprising, but we wanted to know what our audience thinks. And so earlier this week we asked Montreal moms what they want for Mother’s Day to see if the results matched. After receiving a ton of feedback, we’ve put together a list of the top 10 answers:
Top 10 things Montreal moms want for Mother’s Day:
- Flowers
- Take her shopping.
- Do the laundry.
- Clean the house.
- Go on an adventure and do something new.
- Sleep in.
- A quiet family meal.
- A day at the spa.
- Breakfast in bed.
- Tell her how much you love her.
So, this Mother’s Day, if you really want to make the mom in your life happy, forget expensive gifts and take some time to think about how you could reduce her daily tasks and provide her with some well-deserved pampering to make her feel special and acknowledged.
