Looks like cab fares in Quebec are about to make a big increase in 2022.

Last week, the Commission des Transports du Quebec shared the news to Montrealers, indicating exactly how the increase in pricing will work.

Starting September 2022, the base rate will increase by 17 per cent to $4.10. The price per kilometer will increase to $2.05 from $1.75, and price per minute will increase by $0.12 to a total of $0.77.

Once the clock hits 11 p.m., prices will increase to $4.70 base rate, $2.35 per kilometer, and $0.89 per minute. Prices will return to cheaper fares as of 5 a.m.

This decision comes after the huge increase in inflation throughout the last couple of months. From gas prices to insurance, Champlain Taxi president George Boussios shared that they do not have any other choice.
