Temperatures as low as -48 degrees were word of the weekend (and they left some not-so-welcomed incidents behind them). Among these, power loss was at the top.
The extreme cold weather felt across the province over the weekend still leaves thousands of Montrealers without power today. A handful of them are located in the Kirkland and Plateau-Mont-Royal regions.
At 10:46 this morning, 1315 customers were still without power, to be exact. Out of Montreal's 1 M habitants, this represents approximately 0.12% of the population.
Among its solutions, Hydro-Quebec suggests that residents do a few things to reduce their electricity consumption and avoid power outages in the future:
- Reduce the heat in your home by 1 or 2 degrees
- Reduce your hot water consumption
- Recuce the usage of heavy-duty house appliances, such as your dryer and dishwasher
