We've heard of Uber Share, a service from Uber allowing you to share your ride with fellow passengers, therefore reducing the impact on the environment. But have you heard of Montreal's new and carpool mobile app?
The newly launched 'Covoiturage ARTM App' now allows you to easily carpool around the city, Montreal! How does it work, exactly? We tried it to find out...
First, when creating a profile, this app allows you customize your experinece, making for a smooth & hassle-free experience. You get to choose which destinations you frequently travel to and from, what your schedule normally looks like as well as what kind of passengers you are comfortable carpooling with (gender and smoker vs. non-smoker).

When your profile is set up, all you have to do is choose amongst Finding a Carpool or Posting a Carpool.
Finding a carpool allows you to select the point A and Point B of your trip, your ideal time of arrival or departure, as well as if it's a round-trip or one way drive. Passengers pay approximately 12 cents per kilometre to use this service.
When posting a carpool, drivers have to enter the same details, as well as details on their vehicle and seat capacity. Drivers get paid between 10-54 cents per kilometre. The exact amount drivers get paid all depends on the number of passengers riding along, and whether or not they cross one of these four bridges: The La Fontaine Tunnel, Jacques Cartier Bridge, Victoria Bridge and the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge.

Benoit Gendron, the ARTM's Director General, said in an interview that 'the project is part of the ARTM's Digital Mobility Program aimed at investigating carpool opportunities and sustainable mobility services.'
