As of today, pharmacies in Quebec will no longer be handing out free rapid COVID-19 tests.

This new measure will apply to most Quebecers, with some exceptions:

  • immunosuppressed adults
  • people over 60
  • pregnant people
  • adults living with chronic illness
  • those benefiting from free medication (under the public drug insurance plan)

Those who exempt from the new measure will be able to obtain free COVID-19 tests at their local pharmacy. For those who the new measure applies to, tests will be available for purchase only, retailing at $20 per test.

In schools and early childhood centres, the distribution of rapid test kits will remain.
