In a world where technology and cellphones are everywhere, this Montreal bookstore has the right idea.
Montreal's very own De Stiil offers you the chance to (literally) deconnect and get reading every Wednesday at their bookstore on the Plateau Mont Royal! The only requirement? You have to hand them your phone in exchange. "They give us their phone or tablet, whatever they have and we keep it at the register," Aude Le Dubé, the owner of De Stiil Bookstore, told CTV News.
De Stiil's idea is simple: You swap your phone or tablet for an evening of cozy, quiet reading, and cool jazz music in the background. They call this the 'Page Break' event. Entry to the weekly event costs $5 per person. If you ask us, that's a small price to pay for such a cozy and exclusive atmosphere!
The event has become so popular, in fact, that De Stiil's owner has had to turn down some readers in the past. Her dream? That a couple meet at a 'Page Break' event one day and fall in love. "My wildest dream is that a couple will meet here, fall in love and get married in the store. I would love for that to happen," she told CTV News.
Grab your book and go take a look, Montreal! Who knows...maybe it will end up being the digital break you deserve!
It all happens every Wednesday (including tonight!) at 7pm on 351 Duluth Avenue East.
