Hundreds of residents in Pointe-Claire are found without power this week, right as we are hit with an extreme heatwave, after Hydro-Québec refused to cancel a scheduled power outage for maintenance work.

With many people finding the next few days challenging, a senior’s home is one of the many areas affected, leaving them without any air conditioning.

Despite numerous requests from the community to postpone the work, Hydro-Québec proceeded with the outage, cutting power to more than 1,600 clients in Pointe-Claire starting at 7 am.

According to Hydro-Québec, the complexity of the work left them no choice but to maintain the schedule.

Temperatures are expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius due to the humidity.
The maintenance work is now expected to be completed by 1 pm instead of the initially planned 3 pm.
