Well, Montreal… Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Quebec’s very own Fred Junior La Marmotte has officially announced that we’re in for a late spring.
That’s right—our beloved Fred Junior saw his shadow, which, according to tradition, means six more weeks of winter.
This tradition comes from Pennsylvania Dutch folklore, where a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day and seeing its shadow means winter will drag on. If it doesn’t see its shadow, spring arrives early.
All in all, let’s hope Fred Junior got it wrong this year and that winter doesn’t overstay its welcome!
