Well Montreal, it looks like Canada will have to wait yet again to bring the Stanley Cup home.
For the 32nd straight year, the trophy is staying south of the border. In Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers were defeated 5–1 by the Florida Panthers — who have now claimed the Cup for the second year in a row.
The last Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup? The 1993 Montreal Canadiens.
Since then, the Canucks, Flames, Senators, and yes, even the Habs have all made it to the finals — but each time, they’ve fallen to an American team.
Oh well… there’s always next year, right?
Go Habs Go!
