In just over two weeks, Montrealers will be heading to the polls to choose their new local representatives and, ultimately, their next mayor.
If you’re unsure how the voting system works, here’s a quick breakdown of what you need to know:
Eligibility requirements
To vote, you must:
- Be 18 years or older as of November 2, 2025
- Be a Canadian citizen
- Reside in Montreal and have lived in Quebec since May 2, 2025
- Be registered on the electoral list
- Not be under guardianship or subject to a legal incapacity
If you’re not registered yet, you’ll need to do so by 6 p.m. on October 16, 2025. Not sure if you’re registered? You can verify your status right here.
Voting dates and locations
Polling stations across the city will be open on both Election Day and during advance voting.
- Election Day: November 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Advance voting: October 26 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and October 24, 27, 28, and 29 at the Electoral Office in your borough.
Cégep and university students may be able to vote on campus on October 24, 27, 28, and 29. Voting will also be available in senior residences on October 25.
