With the temperatures starting to drop, it’s officially winter tire season in Quebec!
If you haven’t made the switch yet, here’s your reminder: the deadline is coming up fast on December 1!
Every year, all motorized vehicles registered in the province must be equipped with four winter tires between December 1 and March 15. Drivers caught without them could face fines ranging from $200 to $300.
Even though the deadline is December 1, it’s best not to wait until the last minute. A good rule of thumb is to install your winter tires once the temperature consistently falls below 7 degrees Celsius.
The SAAQ also recommends doing a full winter check-up before hitting the road… that means inspecting your brakes, fluids, wipers, defrost system, battery, headlights, and belts to make sure your car is ready for the season ahead.
