While the economy continues to add workers, an increase in the number of people actively seeking employment drove the rate higher at the end of 2025.
According to Statistics Canada, the province added 8,200 jobs last month—defying analyst expectations of a 5,000-job loss and continuing a three-month trend of strong growth.
The agency noted that while the job market was strained by U.S. tariffs throughout much of 2025, recent data suggests the outlook is beginning to improve.
