Despite the recent stretch of warmer weather, a major freezing rain event is expected to impact the Montreal area this week.
According to Environment Canada, a total accumulation of 20 to 30 millimetres of freezing rain is forecasted to begin Wednesday and could last for up to 24 hours through Thursday.
This system will cause surfaces to become extremely icy, significantly increasing the risk of falls and travel-related injuries. Residents should also be prepared for potential power outages and the risk of breaking tree branches due to ice weight.
If you have non-essential travel planned, it is highly recommended that you delay or cancel your trip until conditions improve.
