The number of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in Quebec surpassed 100,000 Sunday, as the province reported that 879 more people tested positive.
The province also reported 11 more deaths on Sunday. Five of those deaths occurred over the weekend, another five occurred between Oct. 18 and 24 and one was from an unknown date.
As infections continue to rise, Quebec accounts for nearly half of Canada’s total of COVID-19 cases, which stood at 213,959 on Saturday night.
Montreal reported its lowest daily increase since Sept. 21 with 146 new positive tests.
The number of COVID-19-related deaths in the province now stands at 6,143.
The number of hospitalizations increased to 551. Of those patients hospitalized, 97 are in intensive care.
